Converting a printed newspaper to audio
Turning a newspaper into audio is mostly an editorial job, not a technical one. Read to You handles the processing; your team keeps control of what is read and how it appears.
1. Create the issue and print the QR code
Add the issue date and title. A permanent QR code is generated straight away. Place it on the front page or masthead before the issue goes to print.
2. Upload the final print PDF
Upload the same PDF you send to the printer. Pages are rendered and articles are detected, including stories that jump between columns and pages.
3. Review articles
Check each article's title and text, link continuations, and exclude anything that should not be narrated, such as adverts, puzzles or classifieds. The language of each article is detected so it is read in the right voice.
4. Narrate and publish
Approved articles are narrated in a natural newspaper-reader voice. Preview the edition as your readers will hear it, then publish. The QR code already in print now opens the live edition.
Common questions
What file do we need?
Your print-ready PDF. No special export or tagging is required.
What if the PDF arrives after the paper is printed?
That is fine. The QR code works from day one and shows a 'being prepared' message until you publish.
